digitAlexandria offers a network architecture for sharing and researching scientific documents. It is based on peer-to-peer technology for the exchange of documents and is compatible with the OAIPMH protocol for searching open archives and distributing their content.
The OAI availability of the items indexed by the digitAlexandria system allows for their diffusion through the network by means of OAI web-based search engines. It increases the number of times a work is quoted by 336% compared to the same work in an online or printed commercial publication.
